Territorial Leaders visit on Sunday 20th November 2016

22.11.2016

We were blessed by the visit of our Territorial Leaders today, Commissioners Clive and Marianne Adams. They were accompanied by our Divisional Leaders Majors Peter and Julie Forrest. Also pictured are Corps Officers Major Adrian and Captain Clare Allman.TC Sunday-8160-3 Mix R

After spending Saturday in Coventry looking at the work of the Army in that city, Sunday didn’t get off to a great start when all our guests got stuck in the lift from the carpark. Fortunately CSM Darren Selby managed to get the doors open in time for the Morning meeting, which featured some of the Sunday School leading prayers and the Singing Company providing blessing and encouragement as they do each week. Commissioner Clive spoke about being fit and equipped to carry out God’s work because we want to, not out of a sense of duty and to ensure we don’t have barriers preventing God from being able to have full control.

Before the evening meetings there was a chance to share refreshments and chat to one another and to our guests before our last meeting which again featured the Band and Songsters as well as the Junior Band who entertained with playing, singing and whistling all within the one piece and the Junior Cell (age 11-16) who described what goes on in their sessions and then asked the Commissioner to join them for a “group selfie”.  The African Praise Choir reminded the TC of home as the diversity and vibrant nature of Birmingham Citadel shone through. Commissioner Marianne Adams spoke about how we should be joyful and share our joy with others.

It was a great day where we shared in the teaching from our Territorial Leaders and all parts of our church family were able to contribute to worship.
