Young People’s Band
The Young People’s Band is a group of Christian musicians aged between seven and 18 who play brass instruments and take part in worship every Sunday.
The young people have recently enjoyed visits to Sunderland, Tunstall, Essington, Mansfield, Wisbech, Consett, Guisborough, Sale and most recently Boston Salvation Army, where they presented their music and a Christian message. Each Christmas, the Band takes part in ‘Christmas with The Salvation Army’ in Birmingham.
Robert Hayward, together with his team of leaders – Callum White, Mark Pearson and Matthew Frost – encourage and guide the young people on their Christian journeys. The band also has a wider support network of people who train, pray for and encourage each member led by former YP Band Leader Keith Watts. Keith’s learners training programme has been so successful it has been adopted by the Music Editorial Team and is available through The Salvation Army Retail outlet SP&S.
The Band recently took part in a concert at Birmingham Citadel with Triumphant Brass and two guest soloists Tom Nielson(Cornet) and Isobel Daws(Trombone).
Their fantastic solos will act as inspiration to all our young musicians.
