Junior Choir Delights in Erdington

17.04.2013

The Salvation Army centre in Erdington had been looking forward to the visit by the Junior Choir – the Singing Company – for several months – and were not disappointed when the date finally arrived on Sunday 14 April.

From the first song (Thine is the Glory) right through to the last one (This Little Light) it was a very special time. Just to have so many young people was wonderful – and to hear them sing and read and pray and testify was a real tonic to all present.

The solo by Laura Nicholson (Love Changes Everything) was really well received and solo parts by some of the younger members (Megan And Josie) melted the hearts of the congregation. Megan also proved herself to be a capable interviewer as she questioned Ruth Copestake and Major Harrod from Erdington Salvation Army about their faith and experience.

The thought for the day was about light, and as the Singing Company sang Candle on the Water, opportunity was given for all present to go forward and light a candle as they also brought a prayer for someone they knew to be in need.

Majors Valerie and Colin Harrod would like to thank the Singing Company leaders and helpers for making it all possible and of course the children for their enthusiasm, their singing and their excellent behaviour.

Later in the day, the Singing Company presented the evening service at Birmingham Citadel on the theme ‘Favourite things’. The programme contained members of the Singing Company choosing their favourite songs to sing. Leader Steph Lamplough gave a short thought to bring the evening to a close.
