Four New Soldiers are enrolled and welcomed

04.04.2017

We were privileged to witness the enrolment of four new Soldiers to our Church. Being a Soldier means fully accepting that Jesus Christ is our Personal Saviour, like any Christian does, but becoming a Soldier also means promising to follow the principles of The Salvation Army. Click to read all about that our doctrines.

Our new Soldiers are Lauren Blessett, Mary Capewell, Tapiwa Chimambi and Lucy Oyat. All have long associations with The Salvation Army, Lauren has been at Birmingham Citadel from birth, Mary first attended Birmingham Citadel in the 1970s. Lucy and Tapi attended the Salvation Army before moving to Birmingham.

In front of a full hall of family, friends, and church family, and guided by Corps Officer Major Adrian Allman, all four signed their Covenant (Articles of War). They spoke of their reasons for taking this step to be a Senior Soldier. Lauren spoke about how she felt God was leading her to take this step for some time before she made the decision. Mary mentioned how she started her journey with The Salvation Army at Birmingham Citadel, and after living all over the UK she is now back home again wearing uniform, alongside her daughter. Tapi spoke about how she feels at home within The Army and Lucy praised the care and compassion of The Salvation Army and says she also has that care and compassion within her and wants to help others through her service to God.

We are so pleased they have made this decision and we are blessed to have these four lovely people worshipping with us.
