Coronavirus update 17 March 2020 2100hrs

17.03.2020

This afternoon we received updated guidance from Territorial Headquarters to inform us that senior leaders of the UK Territory have met numerous times during the last  24 hours to respond to the rapidly changing advice from the UK Government regarding the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Territorial Leadership acknowledges that the advice on caring for people with or at risk of becoming infected with the virus has changed in recent days. As a result, and with deep regret, Territorial Leadership has decided that public meetings must stop with immediate effect. This includes Sunday worship, music group rehearsals, courses, performances and clubs. There are activities that are non-negotiable such as funerals and these will be arranged if and when with those concerned.

This decision by our leaders may come as no surprise to you and similar announcements are being made by other mainstream churches too.

In the light of this directive, we are actively working with others in our corps to put in place alternatives to our corps programme and we will share further details with you over the next few days. We have been grateful to receive constructive and positive ideas for what we can do as a corps family  to maintain contact and to support and uplift one another. We have also been encouraged at the willingness of corps folk to help where they can to support the wider community.

One thing we can all do is join our Territorial Leaders at 12 noon each day praying for all the people around the world impacted by the Coronavirus and also pray for leaders across the world who are making very complex decisions.

There are lots of issues to deal with in the next few days and we will endeavour to provide regular updates on our social media pages during this time. We thank you in advance for you help and patience.

God bless,
Adrian and Clare
