Band leaves it’s mark at Staines

23.10.2017

Birmingham Citadel Band spent the weekend of 21-22 October at Staines Salvation Army for a fantastic weekend of music, witness and worship.

The Saturday evening concert was a sellout with extra chairs available for those who turned up without a ticket. The guest of honour was Stephanie Moore, wife of Bobby Moore, who is the head of the Bobby Moore Bowel Cancer charity which has raised over £23 million.

Stephanie and family members were presented with a donation taken from the ticket money and a collection during the concert.

The band were also joined by Abigail Johnson from Peterborough Citadel who presented five vocal items during the programme.

On Sunday morning the band led worship at the Corps and Major Adrian Allman, spoke about Jesus and Zaccheus. Following the meeting our band and Staines band joined together for a march through the town to the High St where they held an outdoor concert to promote the café church later in the day and let local people know about The Salvation Army. During the concert some members of band spoke to local people who had stopped to listen and as a result 4 people came back later to hear the band in the afternoon meeting.

The band and their hosts ate lunch together at the Hall and then the band presented a lighter program with a Dancing theme with a thought from Major Allman.

It was a fantastic weekend where the band were able to play to hundreds of people both indoors and outdoors and some useful new contacts were established.
