Breakthru on the Road

30.04.2013

Everybody loves a good story, particularly one that they can take home with them and then share with others. This was the challenge given by Breakthru – a group of young people from Birmingham Citadel who provide contemporary music  – who had the privilege of leading the service at Redditch Salvation Army on Sunday 28th April. They enthusiastically supported and served alongside the Band as well as providing their own style of worship.

During the prayer time, the congregation sang the simple words ‘Holy Spirit Reign down’. God’s response to this simple prayer was tangible and it set the service in the spirit right from the start.

As individuals and as a group, Breakthru shared their own personal stories, communicating the very simple but crucial message that at the heart of their individual stories is the work of God in their lives. Sam Ellison and Laura Nicholson shared their stories of personal faith honestly and effectively. Drama was also used during the service.

Breakthru leader Anna Lamplough opened up God’s word, once again highlighting the power of ‘stories’ by touching on the parables of Jesus. She shared how Jesus was the ultimate storyteller, communicating to the heart of individuals and communities. She encouraged the congregation to go out and share their story of salvation with others.

God used Breakthru to minister to the faithful people of Redditch who came away encouraged and humbled by the thoughts of the congregation and shared the following comments:

“The music was excellent as always, but more than that the stories and testimonies from the young people were truly inspiring and humbling.”

“Challenged to share my story and His story”

“It has been so encouraging to see young people with such strong faith”
