Following the summer break Birmingham Citadel Church and Community Centre is now ‘Back to it’!

To launch our new season we were privileged to have the visit of Norwich Citadel Band who performed musical concerts, led us in our Sunday worship and shared in our city centre open air – it was a great time of sharing together with new friendships made, old acquaintances renewed and a fabulous opportunity to share the good news of Jesus.

In the coming weeks we are launch More than an Offering our stewardship programme where we look at the three ‘T”s of our giving as a church  – time, talents and treasure.

Please take time time to explore our website and find out what is happening and how you can get involved in what we are doing as we seek to make a difference wherever we find ourselves.

Throughout the summer we will be meeting for worship on Sunday Mornings only @ 10.30am.

The theme for the summer is To the ends of the earth – Church on a Mission – glimpses into the book of Acts.

Sunday @ 5 resumes on Sunday 6th September with the visit of Norwich Citadel Band.

Park Fellowship will take place following morning worship @ Red House Park Great Barr B43 6NA.

Please bring a picnic lunch and a chair to sit on.

The New York Staff Band of The Salvation Army will be visiting Birmingham on Tuesday 30th June on their way to take part in The Salvation Army’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations in London.

The Band will be playing in the grounds of St Phillip’s Cathedral at 1.30pm  (weather permitting) before attending a reception with the Lord Mayor at the City Council Offices.

They will present a concert of music at The Salvation Army, 24, St Chad’s Queensway @ 7.30pm in the presence of the Lord Mayor.

Tickets are £8 and available from the Church Office Tel: 0121 236 5776  E Mail: birmingham.citadel@salvationarmy.org.uk

The evening promises to be scintillating, inspirational and something not to be missed – tickets are selling fast so be sure not to miss out hearing one of the finest Salvation Army bands in the world.

It’s been a great day in Birmingham at the Lord Mayors Show. Conversations took place, children stopped to do crafts and play games, music was shared and lots of freebies given away. Most importantly it was full of opportunity to share the light of Jesus in the city. We are very thankful for this day.

In the lead up to The Salvation Army’s 150th anniversary celebrations  which take place in London between 1st-5th July, international Salvation Army music groups have been touring the length and the breadth of the UK.

Birmingham is glad to welcome the visit of the New York Staff Band for what will be their final concert before they join the celebrations in London.

The band will be playing in the grounds of St Phillips Cathedral at 1.30pm after which they have an audience with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham at the Council Offices.

The evening celebration concert will take place at The Salvation Army Citadel 24, St Chad’s Queensway B4 6HH in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and promises to be a fantastic occasion.

If you like the sound of a brass band whose music and message is purely God inspired, then this event is just for you.

Tickets are still available priced £8 and can purchased by contacting the Citadel office direct by telephoning 012 1 236 5776 or by emailing  birmingham.citadel@salvationarmy.org.uk

Young people from Birmingham Citadel recently took part in the I’ll Fight Day  which is a national Salvation Army initiative encouraging young people throughout the UK to get involved in social action.

Over 5oo bottles of water were given out in the centre of Birmingham with a simple reminder that ‘God loves you.’

The young people had some fantastic conversations, they certainly ‘spread the love’ and they had a lot of fun too!

To the Ends of the Earth … (Glimpses into Acts, Church on a Mission) is the new teaching series which we will be unpacking over the next few weeks and throughout the summer months here at Birmingham Citadel.

This week morning worship will be led by Majors Mandy & Steve White supported by our Band, Junior & Senior Choirs.

Children leave the main service half way through for age appropriate teaching.

Following morning worship there is opportunity to have a chat and to get to know one another over a cup of tea or coffee.

Our worship this week will also feature some of our children who have been away at the Big Adventure – we look forward to hearing about all their adventures!
