Songsters visit Southampton

11.04.2016

The Songsters(Senior Choir) were privileged to be able to spend the weekend on 9th and 10th of April 2016 in Southampton (Southampton Shirley Corps and Southampton Sholing Corps). It was a time of praise and blessing. New friendships have been formed and old aquaintances renewed.

The Songsters sang well and communicated the Gospel and message of God’s love effectively.

On Saturday after an uneventful journey we arrived to a warm welcome and a large and much appreciated meal. The hall was full for the  evening concert, the first half songs based around well known verses from the Bible, and the second half concentrating on The Cross.

On Sunday morning the Songsters split in two, half staying at Southampton Shirley and the other half going to Southampton Shirley Corps.

After joining together for another amazing meal at Lunchtime, the Songsters joined a number of local people for Come and Sing Workshop. Songster Leader Lesley Nicholson worked her magic with the 90+ members who formed the choir and just over an hour later the group had learnt two songs which were presented in the Praise meeting later that day.

The Songsters met up with Lt Colonels Enid and John West who were the Corps Officers at Birmingham Citadel 25 years ago.
