Songsters visit Dunstable Salvation Army

11.10.2016

October 8th and 9th saw our Songsters (Choir) visit Dunstable Salvation Army to share in music, worship and witness.

Unfortunately poor weather meant that our outdoor concert had to be cancelled but they were blessed with good numbers of people attending our four indoor concerts and worship meetings, with people travelling many miles to come and hear them.

Comments received from the weekend reflect how well the Songsters were able to communicate their message and also the strong connection made between the Songsters and the people at Dunstable : –

A highlight from one of the Songsters : “singing the ‘Channels only…’ bit from ‘Make Me a Channel…’ around the hall and being able to feel what we were singing actually happening! The power of God flowing through us – awesome but so humbling!  Also, we sang the blessing of ‘Wherever You Are’ directly ‘out’ and ‘over’ the people listening. It felt like a very special moment and this was confirmed by conversations and reactions afterwards .”

A lady at Dunstable going through a very difficult time said how so many of the songs had spoken to her – and that she had been ‘converted to Gospel music’.

Another lady present on Saturday is a full-time carer said this was the first time she had managed to get out for the evening for over 2 years and how glad she was that she had been able to spend this very precious time with us.

Another couple who don’t go to the Army regularly but had a strong sense that they were meant to have heard the Songsters and that they were going away knowing they would not have to go through anything alone because they had been reassured that God was with them. They have requested ongoing prayer support.

A retired Officer who couldn’t get over how everything was linked and how the songs so powerfully conveyed such a strong message.

Lesley Nicholson (Songster Leader) had this to say about the weekend – “I am continually blessed by how confidently everyone in the group not just sings, but speaks and prays. May we continue to develop our ministry and have that blessing coming back to us with the knowledge that God can and does use us to be His channels.”
