Junior Band at Nottingham 16th April 2016
19.04.2016
Our Junior Band (led by YP Band Leader Rob Hayward, assisted by Callum White) paid a return visit to William Booth Memorial Halls Salvation Army in Nottingham on Saturday 16th April 2016. This followed the visit of the Nottingham Junior Band about 12 months ago to Birmingham Citadel.
This joint concert venture has been running for a number of years now following link ups with Droitwich Spa and Cannock YP Bands in previous years.
The two bands played separately in the first half and both bands were excellent in every piece they presented. A cornet solo from Josie and a cornet trio from the host band were both highlights in during the evening.
In the second half of the evening both bands joined together more than 45 players crammed on the stage and they played items that they had been rehearsing all afternoon, a mixture of old and new music. The young people played well all evening despite having rehearsed for over 2 hours during the afternoon as well.
The large audience showed their appreciation all night with enthusiastic clapping and encouragement.
It was a great day gave the young people a chance to meet, chat and join in music making with others from another Corps.
