Easter at Birmingham Citadel
25.03.2016
Easter at Birmingham Citadel followed the theme In His Steps and was led by our church leaders Majors Mandy & Steve White.
On Good Friday we reflected on the suffering of Jesus. The Singing Company(Junior Choir), Songsters(Adult Choir) and the Band all provided music which added to the message of Good Friday, then Major Mandy White spoke about the suffering of Jesus leading up to and on the Cross, and why He sacrificed Himself for us.
During the service we were invited to come to the Cross and throw rose petals as a symbol of our gratitude for all that Jesus had done for us through his suffering.
Following the service we marched through the streets of the City Centre, past Birmingham Cathedral and in to Victoria Square in front the Birmingham City Council Buildings and held a short outdoor meeting where many people were contacted and given Palm Crosses, Salvation Army literature and Try Praying booklets as part of a Birmingham Churches Together initiative during Lent.
On Easter Saturday over 40 church members gathered at Clent Hills for an Easter Saturday walk
Easter Sunday saw a capacity congregation celebrate the risen Christ. Major Steve White spoke about living lives in the power of the resurrection following which each member of the congregation received a scripture verse reminding them that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead was available for his followers today.
Easter Sunday outreach at the Children’s Hospital concluded an uplifting and powerful celebration.
The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed!
