How you can help us at Christmas

Thank you for your offer of support to The Salvation Army this Christmas Time.

Each year we distribute toy and food parcels to people in need who are referred to us mainly by Support agencies or health care professions. Last year we distributed over 800 toys parcels and 450 food parcels and expect to do a similar number again this year.

Food Parcels

A typical food parcel will contain:
Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Tea Bags, Sugar
Curry Sauce, Bolognese Sauce, Ham, Tuna, Sweetcorn, Tinned New Potatoes, Rice, Pasta, Hot Dogs, Soup, Chopped Tomatoes, Peas, Carrots, Spaghetti Hoops, Baked Beans
Custard, Rice Pudding, Jelly, Tinned Fruit, Evaporated Milk, Jam, Breakfast Cereal
Bags of Sweets, Packet of biscuits, Mince Pies, Shortbread

Toy Parcels

Rather than a single gift, we try and make up a small Christmas bag for each child which all vary depending on the age and gender of the child. We only distribute brand new items at Christmas.

The ages we cater for are from new born babies to aged 16 years. On average each parcel costs £15. This generally includes:

•A main Toy that costs about £5-£10 which may include: board games, Lego, dolls, Barbie, Playmobil, Mechano, Playdoh, trucks, cars, role-play things, educational toys etc. For the aged 13+ wallets, bags, watches, scarves/hats & gloves, footballs, jewellery.

•A colouring in book & pens/pencils/crayon or stationery set (depending on age) •A reading book
•A soft toy for young children or toiletries for older children

We will be assembling the food and toy parcels the week beginning Monday 9th December, so it would be of great help to us if you could pass on your donations to us before or during that week. Our centre is open from 9am-3pm every day during the week except Wednesdays.

I hope this information is of help, but if you require anything further, please let us know. Thanks again for your support.
